In June this year Call of the Wild’s Dave Thomas took part in the Capital Challenge 5×5 Charity Bike Ride in aid of the children’s hospital Ty Hafan. The cheque for the final amount was officially handed over to Ty Hafan last evening with a fantastic £28,000 raised. What a superb effort.
This Cycling Challenge in Aid of Ty Hafan involved cycling to 5 Capitals in 5 Days, Cardiff – London – Edinburgh – Belfast – Dublin, and started on 23 June 2014. Cycling over 150 miles a day the group of 11 cyclists travelled from :-
- Day 1 – Cardiff to London
- Day 2 – London to York
- Day 3 – York to Edinburgh
- Day 4 – Edinburgh to Belfast
- Day 5 – Belfast to Dublin (and back across to North Wales)
- Day 6 – North Wales to Cardiff
Circuit of UK and Ireland completed in just 6 days and all for a fantastic cause.

During her retirement, Suzanne Goodall felt driven to open the first children’s hospice in Wales and offer care to life-limited children and young people. After 11 years of fundraising and hard work, Tŷ Hafan opened in 1999 and immediately began to bring much-needed comfort and support to families in Wales. Since then the hard work has continued, as Ty Hafan have aimed to develop their services to meet all of the needs of the children, young people and families they support.
