Orienteering
What is Orienteering ?
Orienteering is an activity involving navigation with a map and compass The traditional form involves cross-country running though other forms have evolved. This can be in the form of a competition which can be a timed race.
What Will I Be Doing During the Orienteering Session?
Teams or participants use a map and a compass to navigate through diverse terrain (often wooded) and visit, in sequence, control points that are indicated on the map. Competitors start at staggered intervals, are individually timed, and are expected to perform all navigation skills on their own. Standings are determined first by successful completion of the course, then by shortest time on course. This is a great group activity and an excellent way of seeing the spectacular Welsh countryside.
