Higher Apprentice in Profile: Ebner HeatleyAs part of our Apprenticeship Week 2024 celebrations and our ‘Big Futures’ work we’re celebrating some of our amazing apprentices and the great work they’re doing on their degree apprenticeship journeys.

Ebner Heatley – Level 6 Career Development Higher Apprentice

How did you first learn about the apprenticeship opportunity, and what motivated you to pursue it?

I knew I wanted to be involved in helping others think about their career decisions when I was finishing my A Levels and didn’t feel I had support from my sixth form about my options after deciding I didn’t want to go to university. I did my research and found out about Apprenticeships and knew that it would be the route for me. Now I get to create Apprenticeship opportunities and work with students who are considering Apprenticeships as their next step in their career.

Can you describe the skills or knowledge you hoped to gain through this apprenticeship?

Being able to help structure a session with a student and being able to use the different theories in different sessions.

How has the apprenticeship programme aligned with your career goals and aspirations?

I am passionate about Apprenticeships and being able to gain this qualification will help me be able to support many more students into Apprenticeships and also to help think about their career options once they finish their College studies.

Have there been any unexpected benefits or opportunities that have arisen from your apprenticeship experience?

Completing the Apprenticeship has helped me be able to get a step closer to supporting students when they’re completing their studies.

What advice do you have for others considering or currently pursuing an apprenticeship in your field?

My advice would be to just go for it. There is nothing better than being able to support people with thinking about their careers and the outcomes that come from it make it even more worthwhile.

How have you found working with Call of the Wild?

Anne has been amazing with me and my line manager and even in times when I have been struggling she has helped me still be able to get back on track.
