Why Is This Qualification So Important
Whilst there can be no doubt that Leadership skills are often seen as generic, we should not discount the need for some sector specific leadership development programmes. Initiatives such as the LANTRA leadership development programme show the importance of contextualising those generic skills in specific employment scenarios. The language used, the organisational view of leadership and the interplay between leaders and those they lead will all combine to emphasise the value of programmes that do not just use a ‘one size fits all’ ethos. Development of leaders must take into account where those leaders will put their skills into practice, and the expectancy of the people they lead. By using training providers with a detailed knowledge of the sector LANTRA will ensure that the programme is fit for purpose and that it will have a discernible effect upon the leadership practices of the participant.
