The course is free subject to eligibility of practitioners. Funding priority will be given to employed childcare, education and play practitioners such as childminders, home-based childcarers, day nurseries, pre-school playgroups, nannies, holiday/out of school clubs and children’s centres.

Course Content

There are two units:-

  • Understanding the management role; and
  • Developing management skills

The content is designed to address the business needs and pressures being experienced by the early years and the childcare sector in Devon. Learners cover research, analysis and group-working skills essential to practising or potential middle managers. Aim of the Management Course

  • Gain an understanding of what effective management  is
  • Understand why developing your management skills can work for you in your place of work
  • Gain an understanding of management and leadership models
  • Practice management and leadership techniques in a safe environment
  • Equip delegates with a management toolkit
  • Action Plan – what do I need to do back in the workplace?

A focus  on outcomes. No point attending if all you get is a piece of paper and no ability to transfer and use your knowledge effectively in the workplace.
