Hywel Evans

Hywel manages the day to day running and operation of our 73 acre training centre in the Brecon Beacons. He is certainly kept busy through the course of the year with the high number of groups coming through the centre. If you’re at the property and have any questions he’s your go to man!

Dave Thomas, MIC

Dave is a professional management development practitioner. He has many years’ experience, both in the UK and overseas, in the following areas: designing, presenting and delivering, team building, leadership and management development programmes. He has worked with a wide range of clients  including Vodafone, Orange and Panasonic.

A holder of the Mountain Instructor Certificate and British Canoe Union Level 4 Inland Kayak Coach, he has travelled extensively in Scandinavia, Iceland, the European Alps, Corsica, Kenya, Tanzania, North and South America, Canada and Cyprus. He has a Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development Certificate in Coaching and Mentoring. Dave has a real world practical knowledge, obtained over many years, of developing people and teams, delivering effective leadership, improving communication and team dynamics.

Dave participated in the planning and execution of the first successful winter crossing of Iceland on skis, from the West coast to the East. Attempted six times previously by various nationalities the Island of Iceland was deemed uncross-able. Dragging sledges each weighing 240 pounds the four-man team skied in arctic blizzard conditions for 47 days over 500 miles.

Dave lives in Wales, where he is Senior Facilitator with Call of the Wild.

David Williams

David is a highly experienced learning coach delivering  ILM Management Qualifications at Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5. David can also deliver Team Leading Level 2 and Essential Skills in Communication, Application of Number and Digital Literacy. He has intimate knowledge of delivering the apprenticeship framework in Wales. David also is an expert in the delivery of advice and guidance qualifications with a number of awarding bodies including OCR and City and Guilds.

David has ‘real world’ industry experience which he can apply to the delivery of the qualifications above making them  relevant to the learners and allowing transfer of the learning back to the workplace. This experience comes from serving 20 years in the Police including as a qualified trainer.

Karoline Whittington

Karoline is our quality and performance manager overseeing the the quality of delivery to our clients. She also manages a team of assessors delivering ILM Management Qualifications at Level 3, Level 4 and Level 5, Team Leading Level 2; by encouraging , supporting and motivating the assessors to meet their monthly targets for portfolio submission and review target submission

Karoline has extensive knowledge of assessing and internally verify NVQ/QCF portfolio’s for Management levels 3, 4 and 5, Customer Service levels 2 and 3, Business Administration levels 2 and 3 and also Team Leading level 2.

Francesca Zenati

Profile

Francesca spent 12 years in the army as a front line combat medic. She served tours in Iraq and Afghanistan. She was awarded the DZ Award For Bravery in Afghanistan after the military vehicle she was travelling in with colleagues was blown up. Whilst ignoring her own injuries she treated those around her in a more critical condition. Francesca never lost a military casualty under her care during her tours of duty.

She was promoted to teaching all new soldiers entering Afghanistan (over 200 a day) and became first response medic responsible for the medical training of 350 soldiers. In 2015 she was promoted to senior manager responsible for the medical service and support of 550 infantry soldiers. She left the army in 2016.

Martin Davies

Martin is our health and safety training manager. He oversees the delivery of our health and safety consultancy and training services to our clients. He has a wealth of practical experience, knowledge, and skills in both the private and public health and safety sector which adds to our growing portfolio of services we can offer our clients. Martin’s Health and safety background stems from managing engineering workshops while serving in the armed forces. He’s been involved in managing health and safety on large construction projects to huge factory work such as Amazon.

With Martin’s practical expertise and knowledge, combined with our background in performance improvement, we believe we can make a real difference to the health and safety culture within organisations, thereby impacting the bottom line.

Martin and the team can offer NEBOSH, IOSH, RoSPA, Qualsafe and City and Guilds accredited health and safety training courses within most sectors.

Dr. Phil Knowles

Phil has over 20 years experience of managing and teaching in post-16 education and training including the commercial sector, voluntary sector, local education authorities and FE/HE Institutions.

Phil has experience of effective management techniques,  improving individual and team performance through rapport building, coaching, mentoring and careful setting and monitoring of targets. Having managed budgets and contracts in excess of £3.5million per annum Phil has a real world view and an insight into the problems clients face on a day to day basis.

Before joining Call of the Wild Phil was Head of Learning and Skills at North Tyneside Council so he brings a wealth of knowledge and ideas which can be applied to  problem solving for our clients.

Dr Barrie Kennard

Barrie spent 6 years as Chief Executive of the Centre for Excellence in Leadership & Management development. Experienced business leader/manager across several sectors. Delivers workshops/speeches/presentations at events across the UK.
Doctoral research into Modern Apprenticeships with an interest in work based learning. External examiner on WBL programmes in Cardiff Metropolitan University and Cornwall College, Chief External in Bradford College Business School
