A Winning Experience with Purpose: LexisNexis Risk Solutions Team Join Us in the Bannau Brycheiniog
Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting the Strategic Planning team from LexisNexis Risk Solutions for a very special team development day in the Bannau Brycheiniog National Park. The team had placed the winning bid for this experience at the recent Business Beats Cancer Cymru fundraiser — a fantastic evening that brings the business community together to raise vital funds for Cancer Research UK.
The LexisNexis team, from across the UK, don’t often get the chance to come together in person. So, we curated a programme that went beyond typical team building — designed instead to create space for genuine connection, trust, and reflection in a truly awe-inspiring setting.
Building Trust and Communication
We began the day with a morning session focused on building trust and opening up new channels of communication. These practical and experiential activities challenged the group to lean on one another in new ways, encouraging curiosity, vulnerability, and collaboration — essentials for any high-performing team, particularly one spread across locations.
Reconnecting Through Nature
After a well-earned lunch, we headed out into the hills for a reflective walk through the National Park, culminating in a visit to the stunning Henryd Falls — the highest waterfall in South Wales. Along the route, we took moments to pause and reflect on the morning’s learning, using the natural environment to help reset perspectives and foster a deeper sense of connection to one another and the landscape around us.

The feedback from the team was overwhelmingly positive, and we were especially honoured to receive the following testimonial from Matt Blake, VP of Strategic Planning at LexisNexis Risk Solutions:
“Winning the Call of the Wild team-building day at Business Beats Cancer Cymru was more than just a prize—it was a powerful opportunity to bring our team together in a meaningful and memorable way. Our group, made up of colleagues from across the UK, infrequently gets time together outside of a meeting room or Teams call. From the start, Call of the Wild created a space that allowed us to build trust and open up genuine channels of communication.
The morning session challenged us to think differently in how we rely on one another, and the afternoon walk to the breathtaking Henryd Falls was a true highlight — combining reflection, connection, and the sheer beauty of the Bannau Brycheiniog. It was an experience that will stay with us far beyond the day itself.
We’re proud to have supported Business Beats Cancer Cymru, and I’d encourage others to do the same. It’s a fantastic initiative that not only supports vital research, but also connects people and organisations with purpose.”

Business with Heart
This day encapsulated everything we believe in at Call of the Wild — helping individuals and teams grow through shared experience, set in the natural world. It was also a powerful reminder of the impact that purpose-led initiatives like Business Beats Cancer Cymru can have — not just in the funds raised for life-saving research, but in the way they bring people together.
We’d like to say a heartfelt thank you to Matt and the entire LexisNexis Risk Solutions Strategic Planning team for joining us — and for their generous support of this cause. We’re proud to be part of a business community that leads with heart.
If your team is looking to connect, reflect, and grow in a truly memorable way, we’d love to help you design something just as powerful.
