“Unforgettable Team Conference” by London-based Exigere

We recently had the pleasure of working with a London-based company, Exigere, for their annual team conference. We welcomed the 80-member group to the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) and created an unforgettable experience for them. In the past, they used this time to visit a European city, focusing more on downtime and sundowners. This year, however, they were clear about their intention to maximise the opportunity for personal and team growth during this period of the company’s expansion.

Day 1: Development Day at the Vale Resort and Spa

Based at the Vale Resort and Spa, we hosted a development day focusing on individual strengths and weaknesses and how these contribute to the team’s overall dynamics. The day’s workshops explored key themes: effective leadership in the modern workplace, coaching as a way of leading, and building and sustaining highly effective teams. Participants engaged in activities led by a leadership facilitator, which included experiential elements to embed personal learning. The team put in a great deal of challenging work, reflecting and building on the skills to become even more effective as a team member, and set the tone for the rest of their time with us.

Day 2: Team Building and Adventure in the Brecon Beacons

Using the insights gained from Day 1, the team engaged in raft-building exercises, which required effective communication, problem-solving, and mutual support. In the afternoon, they immersed themselves in the natural beauty of the Brecon Beacons, with some exploring the majestic waterfalls on foot and others getting a more immersive experience by Canyoning through the gorges of the Waterfall country. To keep the team on their toes, we ended the day with a thrilling firewalking challenge before returning to the hotel.

This was our chance to craft an unforgettable development experience and showcase everything Wales has to offer—stunning landscapes, world-class programme, and a warm Welsh welcome.

Day 3: Yoga, Cold Water Exposure, and Departure

The team reset their nervous systems with a yoga session and cold water exposure before heading back to London, feeling rejuvenated and more connected.

This three-day retreat in the Brecon Beacons not only strengthened their teamwork but also provided valuable personal insights and memorable adventures. The learnings from these three days will be felt for years to come. One participant shared:

“I feel like I genuinely learnt more about myself and my peers, and can action behaviours that will help me going forward.”

Partner, David Happell stated “Planning our trip to the Brecon Beacons was a real pleasure. With the company growing rapidly and the bar set high over the years, there was certainly pressure to deliver! This retreat, however, gave us the perfect opportunity to come together and grow as a team. The beautiful Welsh landscape and the activities we engaged in weren’t just enjoyable—they genuinely brought us closer and deepened our understanding of how we can work even better as a group. From interactive workshops to team challenges in the wild, everything we did centred on building stronger connections. We returned to London feeling refreshed, more connected, and ready to tackle whatever comes next. I’m incredibly proud of what we achieved over the three days and excited to see how we’ll apply what we’ve learned in the future.”
