Thank You from all of us at Call of the Wild
As we come towards the end of the year and we reflect on the year we’ve had, we want to share some wonderful news with you all. At Call of the Wild, developing people is at the heart of everything we do – not just in the workplace but also in our communities. That’s why we created the Call of the Wild Development Trust, born from our passion for helping people grow.
Empowering Communities Through Your Support
Every booking with Call of the Wild has done more than strengthen your teams, leaders and organisations – it has also contributed to the Call of the Wild Development Trust. With 2.5% of each booking directly supporting the Trust, you’ve helped equip over 1,000 Year 6 pupils since 2020 with resilience and confidence as they transition to secondary school through our Resilience Programme.
Why Resilience?
We focus on resilience as it’s the backbone of personal and professional success, helping individuals not only to face challenges but to grow stronger because of them. The transition from Primary in to Secondary School is widely regarded as one of the first major challenges faced by children. By providing them with skills to build their own resilience and confidence, we are not only preparing them for that transition but providing them with lifelong skills that will be invaluable in facing any challenge, especially in the workplace.
Your contributions are making an impact where it’s needed most
Through our programme, over 1,000 children, often from disadvantaged backgrounds, have discovered their potential, preparing them for the leap to secondary school. 61% of children showed significant growth in mental toughness after just five days, of those 52% of participants were eligible for free school meals and more than half of the schools we worked with were in the top 10% of deprived areas in Wales.
Here’s what some of our participants had to say
“I’ve learned that I can do more than I thought! This week will help me make friends and work as a team when I move to comp.”
“I’ve learned I can do more than I thought! This week will help me make friends and work as a team when I move to comp.”
“I found rock climbing challenging but I’m fully glad I did it, thank you. I felt proud and happy and confident. I have discovered I am good at working in a team and getting the job done. I really loved this week. Now I will have a more positive mindset. This will help me control my emotions when I work as a team. I loved it, thank you so, so, so much!”
“This will help me be more positive and be more like a leader. I give you 5 stars!” — Year 6 pupils
“It was heart-warming to see all the pupils go out of their comfort zones and give every activity a try, however difficult or challenging. Their confidence has been boosted massively.” – Menna Johns, YGG Lonlas
“It is clear to see that the pupils have thoroughly enjoyed, and gained valuable experience from the course which will help them moving forward. I have seen a big change in the pupils’ commitment and confidence throughout the week, and as said previously, this is due to the brilliant teaching and activities they have completed.”
“Our children are passionate about resilience and still use the language taught during this week within the classroom. We are sure that when next faced with adversity, they will certainly remember this week. Thank you, we hope to work with you again very soon.” Aled Keating, Dowlais Primary
To everyone who has partnered with us, it isn’t just about exploring the stunning landscapes of Wales and developing your people and your organisation – it’s an investment in nurturing the next generation to face life’s challenges with grit and resilience.
Continuing to Make a Difference
We’re proud to share that the 2.5% contribution will continue into the future, ensuring that every booking with Call of the Wild supports the vital work of the Trust. If you’re inspired to do more, we’d love to hear from you about how you can support the Trusts mission.
